Stabbed because you're gay.
This person I work with was leaving Dulles Airport late on Sunday night. It was like 1am and he was walking towards the shuttle bus that takes you to the satellite parking lot. These two guys started shouting at him, calling him a "faggot." Then they attacked him.

They stabbed him in the stomach, and beat him. They stole his wallet, earrings, rings, and one of his suitcases. They threatened to rape him. A security guard finally came to help him, but the two guys got away.

He had to go to the hospital and spend the night there. He has knife scratch marks on his back, and they couldn't stitch up the stab wound because the knife they used was dirty. The police told him that searching for the guys would be futile.

I thought the airport was safe. There's supposed to be all this security there and stuff, and yet this can happen, and there's no way to catch the people, no video of the attack from a security camera, nothing. Worse yet, these horrible people who attacked him will suffer no consequences from their actions. I bet they'll do it again. What's to stop them?

Goodbye Snowman Head, Goodbye Snowman Body
The snowman has held up surprising well over the past couple days. However, yesterday morning I noticed the head had fallen off. It was slightly sad. A lot of the snow around him had melted too. Then today I was looking at him and there's really nothing left except a disfigured bottom. There is actually NO snow on the ground anywhere now, minus that sad little pile of snow.

Sniff.

Bridesmaids Dresses... ugh!
I was able to round up all of my bridesmaids and get them to go dress shopping yesterday. Horray! The whole thing went really well and pretty smoothly. Found a dress that looked good on everyone. Only problem is that the colors it came in were not very nice. What's up with that? Why make a very nice looking dress in ugly colors?

Hrmph!

Bad Santa, Good Movie
We went to see Bad Santa last night. This is one of the best movies I have seen in a while. The best part about it was that Lauren Graham, the chick that plays Lorelai Gilmore in Gilmore Girls, was in the movie! Not to mention a small cameo by Ajay Naidu, that guy from Office Space.

When there was about 10 minutes left of the movie, these two people came into the theatre (which was completely crowded) to look for seats. What the hell? So they decide that the open seat next to me and the open seat next to Rob were to be their seats. So really loudly from the end of the aisle, we were in the middle) they say "Can you two move down, there's two seats right there, move down." What the hell? 10 minutes left in the movie, disturbing everyone around them. So Rob says no. So the guy comes in, is now standing in the empty seat next to Rob saying "Why can't you move? Just move down." But he's not even wispering, ducking or anything. He's just ruining the whole movie for everyone in the theatre.

Of course at this point Rob is like no way, and doesn't move, and tells the guy to leave. No one in the theatre except Rob says anything. What is wrong with people? Is it really ok for someone to come into a theatre with only 10 minutes left, disrupt the whole theatre, and to make two people move seats? Two people who have been sitting for 1 hour and 45 minutes in the same seats? Finally the guy's girlfriend (wife? date? friend?) says they should go, so he shoves by us and leaves. Only one woman sitting in front of us turned around and said, "Good for you," to Rob.

What makes people think that it's ok to walk into a theatre like that? Were they confused and in the wrong theatre? Were they just trying to jump in on a movie after theirs was over? What? What makes it ok for someone to inconvenience a whole lot of people, knowing they're doing it, and knowing there is no basis for their actions. If that was a date, I sure hope that girl dumps that guy.

Snow, Snowman, Hurray!
When it snows I'm torn. I like the snow in the sense of its fluffy whiteness. I like prancing around in the snow and the fun activities that come with snow. However, I do not like the whole road mess and pain in the butt of getting anywhere. Not to mention the ice that forms on sidewalks, etc.

Yesterday it started to snow, by last night there was about 6 inches of snow on the ground. Rob and I trekked out around 11pm and built a snowman. We wore our new snow pants that I got for us after our big snow last year. After walking around in jeans in like 18" of snow last year, I decided that we needed snow pants so we wouldn't freeze our tails off again. So perhaps we were a bit overdressed for the mere 6" of snow last night, but still, it was cool.

We built a snowman. It was about as tall as I was. The snow was perfect packing snow so it was quite easy to build. It even had feet! We then had to walk out to the woods to get branches for the arms, which was nice. When we were done this dog named "Poppy" came out with her owners and eyed the arms. Luckily she didn't grab any, or pee on our new snowman, so that was all good.

The best thing about the snowman building is that when people woke up in the morning, there was more snow, so you coulnd't see where the snowman came from, just that somehow over the night, a snowman appeared.

Anderson Cooper 360
I've always had a fondness for people with two last names. Anderson Cooper has come a long way since his "The Mole" TV Show hosting. I'm still standing by my statement that "The Mole" season one was one of the best of the reality shows out there. Anyhow. So he has this show on CNN called "Anderson Cooper 360" and it's great. He goes over recent headlines, but it's really blunt, and edgy at the same time. Yes, an edgy news show. Check out this snapshot that I took one night while watching this show. Now what normal news show would just have that out there? I highly recommend that you, yes you the person reading this post no matter who you are, watch this show. CNN 7pm EST weekdays!

$35 to Park?!
I have a work meeting that takes place every other week in Bethesda. There is an underground parking garage available, but it's like $10-$15 to park there. So I park 2 blocks away in a metered garage where it costs ~$2. Well yesterday's meeting ran over. I always put in extra money into the meter to make sure that I don't run out of time, but yesterday I did not put enough in. :( I now have a $35 parking ticket. 35 dollars is a lot of money to spend for 10 minutes of parking. I figured the fine would be like $15 or maybe $25. But $35? Yikes! Must remember to bring much more change with me next time to avoid the fee...
